Q: 6000 rmb and an appartment or 8000 rmb without it for a contract in Beijing. Is it right?

So, I had this guy Peter,  from Beijng ESl pretending to offer me a strong contract. He prompted me to first confirm whether I accept or not the salary so we can talk further the details of the contract. I refused it, saying that Beijing is one of the most expensive cities in the world.

He then got back saying: ".you are too old to get high salary.ok?"

Is the guy right using this criteria? I am 41 years, BA in Sciences of Education, about to get my IELTS as well and lot of experience in English teaching. Anyway, I told him he is hunting for victims who ignore what Beijing is for a living and told him he is a scamer.

What is your opinion about it? Please let me know and thank you for your input on that.

For Beijing, I wouldn't accept anything lesser than 15,000 with an apartment. It's pretty obvious this Peter guy is trying to pull a fast one. Beijing is expensive and even with 8,000 you'd be on a shoe string budget. Tell Peter, go jump!

Hahahah, I told him already to jump and I think he's got his nose broken. Because I told him he is a scamer. Yeah, I've never lived in Beijing, but I know what is like. So, 15k would be the least to look for a contract, you say. So I was right, when I told him he's looking for victims that would pay him off their wages, a monthly 2000 RMB. Thanks Louis.

Thanks Mike. So it is indeed this serious, living in Beijing. I didn't know this much. But I thought it must be a rip off the deal he offered me.
