Well with a population of 26,000,000 people and probably at least 10,000,000 motorized vehicles spewing toxic gasses into the atmosphere 24/7 kinda says it all.  Like Beijing I'm surprised people can breathe there at all.

Barometric pressure today is average, so I don't think that is much of a contributing factor.

It's correct AQI measure surprise in US Embassy area of Shanghai:

Shanghai US Consulate

AQI: Shanghai US Consulate Real-time Air Quality Index (AQI).

824

Hazardous

Updated on Monday 13:00 Temp.: 11°C

Rest of Shanghai is in range 150 - 157 AQI or 'you'll all die soon-er ....' i.e. 'Unhealthy'

A: If he did contact the embassy they would tell him to engage a lawyer.
A:If he did contact the embassy they would tell him to engage a lawyer. They at least might be able to point him towards a somewhat decent lawyer, I don't think they'd be of much help aside from that though. I doubt the lawyer would be able to do much other than help negotiate the compensation he will need to pay.   -- Stiggs
