The wasps’ highly toxic stings are causing the onset of anaphylactic shock, an allergic reaction that leads to itchiness before death, ITN News reports.
Footage of patients inside a hospital in Hanzhong City shows victims' deep and festering wounds.
The hospital has been deluged with 87 patients, eight of whom have died while four more are in a critical condition.
Patients have spoken on their attempts to flee the killer wasps.
“The wasps surrounded me and I could not stand it so I used a basket to cover my head and that’s how I saved myself,” a patient at the hospital said.
The hordes of wasps can sting a person hundreds of times in an attack.
Medical officials have urged victims to seek medical attention if they are stung more than ten times.

I hate wasps and hornets. Japan has the biggest wasp in the world.
I don't carry bug spray. Don't you have even scarier insects in Az?
According to my sources, Vespa Mandarinia, which are at play here, grows up to 5cm in length. That is a scary size for a wasp.
TedDBayer:
I knew about the Japanese wasp which is bigger, but these are all over Asia. Yipes, forget fly swapper, you'd need a baseball bat or tennis racket.
