Q: Anybody know how to clean one's lungs?

After the highest level of PM 2.5 in the last days, we are all pretty intoxicated even if we don't feel it.

Anybody knows any remedy to clean lungs and eliminate the intoxication?

It can be a food to eat, a drink or a particular behavior.

I've heard that steams and sauna might help a bit...

Any other idea?

The problem with PM2.5 is that there is no way to get the stuff out again. Your lungs will slowly transport it away a part of regular maintenance, but it takes decades to get back to fresh. The only thing to do is to avoid exposure.

How can you not know this already. ??? (sorry for being patronizing, but isn't it a little sad you're not taking responsibility for at least yourself?)

I smoke heavily to be sure I have a nice thick tar filter in place within my lungs.  Nothing passes through the sticky goo so I never have a problem.surprise

Red_Fox:

Yup. That sticky goo coating your lungs is a sure-fire protection from all the other crap you breathe in. It'll probably kill ya long before the polluted air will, too. (Ole Red knows. I lost a lung 6 years ago. And not coz of the air, either. Marlboro Lights. Shit. Coulda been a real Marlboro Man and smoked Reds...)

PM2.5 particles are not filtered out by your lungs. They pass into your blood... The concentration of the bad stuffs (heavy metal, sulfur, etc.) is too low to make typical poisoning treatments efficient. It will slowly accumulate and raise the likelihood of a cancer. The only way to solve the issue is less polluting energy production. Between cheap energy, lots of energy and clean energy, pick two Tongue

Look up on Google for the cilantro and its related benefits. It's amazing how this plant that usually it's added just for the view and a little more for the taste on gourmet dishes, could do to your health. It's so powerful that it removes mercury from brain and where ever this hard metal it's hidden. It's one of the most outstanding source of nutrients the nature has ever provided with for the humans. If you dislike its taste, learn to love it, cause it will carefully take care of your health with a lot of natural "love".

I used it once and immediately noticed changes in my body metabolism, in the level of intellectual energy, in the efficiency of my work, being able to even multi tasking things I couldn't. Well, that's what at least was to myself. So I am sure it's good source to clean up your lungs too. Carefully read about cilantro and go for it as it still in the supermarket.

Here is a link : http://resully.com/healthy-eating/amazing-health-benefits-of-cilantro/

and should there be any problem accessing the link here is the essential text about it

Cilantro is one of those herbs that you either love it or hate it. This post is for the cilantro lovers out there (or future cilantro lovers). Personally, I love cilantro and can’t get enough of it – I can add heaps of it to salsa, guacamole, some salads or even a smidgen when I ”juice”. For those faithful cilantro connoisseurs and those who haven’t experienced it yet, here are some health benefits to eating it.

Cilantro is a phenomenal herb that is packed with vitamins A, K, & C, minerals such as iron, calcium, and magnesium, and has more antioxidants than most fruits or vegetables.
Cilantro is a remarkable heavy-metal detoxifier and is able to remove mercury and aluminum from where it is stored in the adipose (fat) tissues.
Cilantro is also able to mobilize mercury rapidly from the brain and central nervous system by separating it from the fat tissue and moving into the blood & lymph where when combined with a blue green algae such as spirulina it can be removed safely and effectively from the body. Cilantro & blue green algae used together is a winning combination and a natural miracle that has given tremendous relief to those suffering from mercury poisoning & toxicity.
Cilantro also contains an anti-bacterial compound called dodecenal which has the ability to kill salmonella bacteria and prevent salmonella poisoning.
Cilantro is highly beneficial for Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Arthritis, Diabetes, Viral and Bacterial Infections, Hepatitis, Colitis, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders, Autism, Tourette Syndrome, Infertility, and Bell’s Palsy.
Cilantro is also very helpful with autoimmune disorders such as Fibromyalgia, Addison’s Disease, Guillain-Barre syndrome, IBS, Multiple Sclerosis, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Cilantro is known to support the stomach, spleen, adrenals, thyroid, pancreas, bladder, and lungs.
Cilantro is also highly beneficial in reducing LDL (bad) cholesterol and raising HDL (good) cholesterol.
Juicing Cilantro

Cilantro is often juiced with celery and apples for a medicinal and healing drink. Juicing cilantro is one of the most effective ways to get at least one bunch or more of cilantro in you a day. Cilantro can also be added to smoothies, salsas, salads, guacamole, soups, pesto, tomatoes, beans, and veggie dishes. If the green flavor of cilantro does not appeal to you, yet you still want to receive its health benefits, consider using cilantro tincture or extract which can be found online or at your local health food store.

For those of you that would like to make your own salsa using cilantro, I happened to find this recipe online Natural and Organic Recipe for Salsa. I haven’t attempted it on my own, so if there’s anyone who’d like to try it or another recipe with cilantro, I’d love for you to share your results in the comment section. Enjoy!

Your Resident Health Nut,

Renee

Coriander (other name for cilantro) have a mild effect against lead poisoning, but that's about it. Exhausts from coal power plants have far more pollutants than lead : arsenic, mercury, fluorine, to name a few. Coriander does nothing on those.

was the first article I found that wasn't on a web site that would also recommend wearing a tinfoil hat when talking on a celular device.

It's impressive properties listed on my link is a bit shorter.

@DrMonkey  you're saying: "Exhausts from coal power plants have far more pollutants than lead : arsenic, mercury, fluorine, to name a few. Coriander does nothing on those."

That's why I brought up the cilantro or Coriander as it looks to be named. It actually removes away those hard metals. It's just an idea. I guess people who gave a hard thought to this plants know why such plant is so helpful. Although I am not a scientist I love to experiment what mother nature can do for us and I am convinced about those benefits. If so effective at removing the mercury maybe it is good at removing those small particles fromthe lungs too. My 2 cents, anyway.

Cilantro is also able to mobilize mercury rapidly from the brain and central nervous system by separating it from the fat tissue and moving into the blood & lymph where when combined with a blue green algae such as spirulina it can be removed safely and effectively from the body. Scandinavian:

could you explain, what does "mobilize" mean. Not sure you'll find a doctor use that word about dealing with heavy metals absorbed by the body.

@Scandinavian It's not important the word, it's important the point being made about how effective is the cilantro at fighting mercury when absorbed by the body. That to me it's enough to enjoy something I would enjoy it anyway before. I wish I could find a scientifically approach about this point too. If you find it please share. I will look up myself too and see what doctors would say about it.

I thought the important part was weather it works or not. I say it doesn't. If you believe so, great. But don't come crying to this forum when you stroke out.

You can't clear PM 2.5 from your lungs. Not even a nasty infection will clear it out. You can only hope, within 20-30 years, that you don't develop cancer.

Your lungs will clean themselves...

The best way for that to happen is to live in a place with clean fresh air..

I suppose if that's not possible, you should get one of those masks and wear it 24/7 to provide you with clean air to give your lungs a chance to reverse the damage.
