Q: Anyone got one of those portable "watching TV" screens?

My cell phone screen isn't conducive for watching videos, and I have a long commute.

I'm sure you've seen it: it looks like a smart phone, but it isn't. It's a small device that plays video - you see people watching their Chinese soaps and dramas on them with their earplugs in.

What's the memory on them? Flash? Am sometimes amazed by the quality of the picture. Anyone have recommendations?

hey I'm a bit confused . what are you describing ?it seems not a tablet . so maybe an MP5? an MP5 supports most kinds of video formats but honestly it's a bit outdated since people can have tablets today for less than 1000Yuan .

moparfan:

It looks like a phone, but it isn't a phone. It's too, square, blocky and not a phone. As it: you'd never glitter it up or hang a keychain from it.

I guess you can say it's like an MP3 player that is only ever used for watching videos. And I guess that changes the question a bit...

Yeah, you are either describing a very big video player. I thought I was old.

moparfan:

I have to say, I don't see these around very much. People just watch movies on their phone, to which now I will go for another upgrade, it looks. Was just wondering about a cheap alternative solution.

The kids all had them a couple of years back, you can also get some that play games as well as watching movies. Basically a fake PSP. Can get them for less than 200 kuai.

moparfan:

Yes, of all the answers I think this is the one. But it isn't a PSP though it may look like one. I sometimes see people text chatting with people using a PSP-like device.

Rin:

Yep, I think it's just a fake Chinese PSP. Can't use UMD's... games are downloadable. Not sure about text messaging, unless you have WIFI. I have a real PSP.. you can buy one super cheap now.. around 600 RMB on taobao.

Sounds like your talking about an ipad. I think they come in various memory sizes but I have an ipad 2 which is fairly old fashioned at this stage because it is quite large and heavy. You can get much smaller ones now for around 3000-5000 RMB.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
