Q: Are ads becoming increasingly sexual in nature?

I was in the elevator the other day and there was an ad on a small TV inside for socks...plain, boring, black brown white socks. And it had a naked woman next to it. You couldn't actually see anything, but there she was, naked.

Is this a trend? I was kinda taken aback, as I hadn't noticed that many prurient ads before over here. Frankly, I'm surprised the government would even allow them.

One thing surprises me in china, while nudity is not allowed on TV at all, adds in general, for whatever product, ARE EACH PASSING DAY A LOT RISKIER, like the only way to attract your eyes is with a very provotative and sexy posed photo or drawing.

The one that I recall that made me pay more attention was of a dentist, showing a patient on a dental chair and he working on a tooth.  The photo included a nurse or assistant, leaning over, and showing more cleveage than you will normally see.    Well, Hugh Hefner will be happy about this.  wink

Of course they are, and they will always continue to push the envelope and get away with what they can.
Sex sells, no matter where in the world you are.

I've never seen anything like that before. Usually if they know there product is not selling that well they like to add something that doesn't even represent their product. There are many commercials and ads nowadays that have these sorts of ways to attract peoples attention. I think there was a statistic somewhere that showed this trend. The people that added like you saw a naked person had better sales later on and that's the only reason they do it. Again it could be because the product they are trying to sell hasn't been selling well in the past.

Hey you remembered the socks, so the add worked.

Score one more over overly sexed adds.

But I do not remember the dentist name, but will recall those watermelons for years to come.

Can't recall the dentist's name out of the blue.... but I'm sure when you the next time you see his name, a huge smile is going to cover your face.

An advert I saw in a bar had a picture of a seated naked woman with the beer covering her (ahem) modesty. I was concerned this would make the beer warm.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
