Q: Are there any vegetarian restaurants in Tianjin?

Since I moved to Tianjin I've struggled to find a vegetarian restaurant other than the Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant in the Wudadao area. It's good but is there another?

There are a number of other vegetarian restaurants in Tianjin. A fairly well known one is called Seven Leaves Vegetarian Restaurant, serving the usual mock meat dishes. Another good one is called Yuanman restaurant.

I’ve definitely asked for “vegetarian” in Chinese restaurants only to find chicken in my noodles or pork still in my dumplings. Go to the Seven Leaves vegetarian restaurant --2F, Yuanyang Building, Xinkai Lu-- though for real vegetarian food. Seven Leaves has vegetarian Beijing ‘duck’, ‘beef steak’, and ‘pork’ dishes that are actually vegetarian friendly substitutes. There are also some good veg and tofu dishes that are tasty. A meal here is around 50RMB. The Yuanman Vegetarian Restaurant圆满素食饭馆 is an expat favorite and costs about 40RMB per person’s meal—try here first.

i haven't seen or heard of just vegetarian restaurants, but i bet you can find vegetarian food in any restaurant

Hotwater:

The problem with standard Chinese restaurants & vegetarian food is that they think it's okay to use chicken stock, etc for flavour when true vegetarians won't eat any animal products, including animal fats.

Most chinese cities ties will have a veggie restaurant near temples. The Happy Cow website is good for listings by city

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
