Really and truly not scared of natural disasters in China or anywhere else, for that matter. Only man-made disasters... (War tops the list...)

Nope. We're not in an earthquake zone, and the occasional typhoon is just a matter of taking proper precautions (stock up on vodka and stay home)

Pollution and traffic are the main killers in China. Mother nature really needs to get her ducks in a row to beat the Chinese.

nope.  I have felt two EQ's, a few typhoons,  rather get it from that than the 'man-made' way. I figured a long time ago I'd go down in a jetliner crash.   well, time will tell....

You should be.  Earthquake resistant buildings can be built as long as everyone does their job properly, and doesn't take a bribe to look the other way while concrete is replaced with tofu.  But I'm sure that'd never happen here...

no, you can die from much more common, everyday events in China... like waking up and going outside...

I lived through tornadoes, hurricanes, sandstorms, floods, earthquakes and ice storms throughout my worldly travels. Still alive. I think its a matter of perspective, being in the right place at the right time.

It is scary, but it is also a fact of life. You cant live your life in fear though. I worry, yes everyday. I'm a father of a 3 and a half  year old boy so I am supposed to worry for his sake. But I don't let the fear rule my life and neither should any of you.

Scared would be too strong, but I was definitely aware since I used to live in an earthquake zone, and if you asked the locals their response would be, 'oh don't worry we haven't had an earthquake in decades'. In my books that means they are due one soon.

I'm more scared of the 19 nuclear plants + the 32 under construction (and ready soon), moreover considering that most part of the capacity under construction is the largely indigenous CPR-1000 design

A:I think the first "not smart" thing you did was to think of everyone as a subordinate. They are in fact your team members. You are also a team member and your role is to supervise, not flex your muscles. It drives you nuts when your boss does this and then you do exactly the same thing. Think about it. Adapt, change, bend the rules and be more efficient. -- iWolf
