Q: Band practice room in Beijing?

A friend and I are thinking of forming a band in Beijing though need to find a place to practice that has a full drum kit etc. Anyone know of such a place? Musically we're thinking of creating something that sounds like a concoction of King Crimson, The Mars Volta and The Smiths. Feel free to try and work out what that might sound like!

There are band practic rooms in China. I've seen many in the elementary schools I've been at. At least two kindergartens that I know of have these band rooms. Not sure if you are able to just use their facilties though. You might have to ask them if you could borrow them as they also have to use them for class.

Ask the people at the guitar shops. If you want a full drum kit you will likely pay something for the room. A bar with a drum kit might let you practice there.

Good luck.
And maybe ask on the Beijinger website.

The two places where we usually practiced were in Baochao hutong, on the gulou east, and something called Sky music, near Beixinqiao. They had drum kits, good amps, and all that. I can provide you the addresses, if you want (and if I can find them).
