What's better than to be a kid?
You got just sit there to act like a little pet.
Food, icecream, juice are all free served while the parents are besides you.
Because you are a kid. You can just laugh, furious or demanding.
Speak for yourself. Life was shitty when I was a kid; stuck in a terrible environment that I couldn't escape from because I was too young to leave.
Couldn't wait until I was old enough to leave.

I think your (VIKI87) chilhood could have been a little better to ... not so many treats and maybe a little more discipline.... you a product of the one child policy?
I feel sorry for kids in China. They have no free time. They are constantly shuttled between school, extra classes and other extra-curricular activities. School days are long, classes are boring and the homework is never ending and monotonous. Not meaning to offend anyone but I think this is why there are so many infantilised adults. They never got to have a proper childhood.
Chinese people just want to be kids. No responsibilities, no decision making and no thinking. A country full of kids just like Uncle Xi wants.
It's as nzteacher describes. A lot of bad decisions, and the child bears the consequences of the neglect and oppressive whims of the parents. No responsible decisions or due consideration was given to their well-being when they were young, so it's okay to traumatize your own spawn-slash-property as you please.
Chinese raise their children to be dependent on mommy and daddy because they love their kids soooooo much (not because they want to control the children and use them as caregivers). Bad foreigners raise their children to be independent because they don't love their children (not because the parents want their children be able to take care of themselves after the parents die).
