Q: Best Kung Fu movie?

Yeh, it's a rubbish question, I know, but i've just finished watching 'Danny the Dog' for the umteenth time and it got me thinking: is there anything better for a kung fu buff? I mean, the story's cool, the action's cool, it's got Morgan Freeman, Bob Hoskins, no dodgy dubbing, it's a solid movie. What can top it?

Oh come on! It's got to be the absolute classic "Enter the Dragon" starring the all time greatest Kung Fu expert Bruce Lee. (Even if some of the acting is a bit wooden.)

Now, how about a musical version of Enter the Dragon? That could be fun, and perhaps a West end version?

mArtiAn:

Enter the dragon? You have to be kidding, the fight choreography in that is rubbish. Just look at the stuff Jackie Chan's been doing for years, the guy's like Fred Astaire. Enter the Dragon is wayyy dated. It's like saying the greatest rock tune in the world is by Bill Hailey and the Comets.

The reason it's dated is because it's old! As in a Classic.

As to the best song line, well...................

Nothing really matters, Anyone can see,
Nothing really matters,
Nothing really matters to me.

Yeh, it's a classic, just not very imaginative fight scenes.

Did you ever see Lee Evans do his mime to Bohemian Rhapsody? You get Youtube, don't you? Look it up. Very funny.

I don't know about the greatest of all time, but I do enjoy "Forbidden Kingdom," with Jackie Chan and Jet Li. It also has Liu Yifei and Li Bing Bing, so, ya can't go wrong there. What I like about the movie is that it plays tribute to a lot of the martial arts movies and lore from times past, and yeah, both Jackie and Jet play duel roles in the film, so it's kinda fun to watch and pick out all the connecting references and gags.

mArtiAn:

  Like what tributes/references, i'm interested?

Here's an article by the guy who wrote the story, John Fusco. In it, he explains some of the influences and men "behind the scenes" who made it happen:

There used to be so many kung fu movies on TV, mostly Chinese with sub-titles and I can't read. I liked Kung Fu, the TV show, David Carradine was such a drunk that after awhile he only had to touch someone to drop them, cause thats all he could do.

mArtiAn:

Haha, yeh, I used to watch that show every week. WIV YAW MOMMA!

Game of Death. Bruce Lee and a team of Kung Fu master's have to fight their way to the top of a pagoda for some reason or other. Anyway its the one he wears the yellow track suit and fights Kareem Abdul Jabaar. And the not  balding, chubby, rec-spec wearing version Kareem that played for the the LA Lakers in the 80s, either. This film has the younger, skinner incarnation. From when he had an Afro and beard and played for the Milwaukee Bucks.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
