Q: Big Tattoo's

Ok there are only three other posts I have seen on tattoo's so far and only one of them kind of answer my following question, but only slightly.

I have a rather large tattoo on my back of an Imperial Dragon, it spans from my left shoulder all the way down to just above my hip on the left side of my back, and slightly covers the right side of the spine as well. On the other side I have the outline of a snake which measures the same in length. It has not been touched for a few years and is a long way off being finished.

What I want to know is... Will I be able to use public swimming baths with such a large piece or for that matter, will I be able to go topless at the beach? I assume I will get many a stare for being a westerner anyway. But a westerner with large visible ink in public? Well I have my doubts to the idea of ever taking my top off if you get what I mean.

I wouldn't see why you couldn't go to the beach or swimming pool and go topless. The people here will stare at you, you are right about that, that's just a given. But, I don't see it being a problem at all. The only thing is they will probably stare at you longer than they would another westerner without a big tattoo.

They might think your part of some gang but staring is the worst it will get

By the way, tattoos are more expensive here than back home. I notice you mentioned the snake isn't finished and just thuought I'd mention it in case you thought you'd get it finished over here. Obviously there are cheap tattooists but I wouldn't trust them, especially with somethings so large.

p.s. you should have got a pheonix to go with the dragon lol

Thanks for the input. Don't worry. I have no intention of getting it finished whilst I am away.

Yeh, I think large, dragon tattoos are generally associated with members of organized crime. The only time i've seen any tat of the kind you're describing, here in China, was on a guy who was very much a criminal. Quite a nice chap though. His girlfriend offered to be my girlfriend instead if I could beat him in a fight. I politely declined the offer; she was a bit of a hound.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
