Q: Bike shops or market in Guangzhou?

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas!!

As a part of my NY resolution, I decided to buy a bike, something to get my arse off the sofa once in a while. I know that I can go on taobao etc and get one off there, but the problem is that Chinese vendors will almost certainly lie and sugarcoat the description. Main issue being: weight of the bike, quality of construction and so on.

So I wanted to ask if anyone knows of a market or a bike shop in Guangzhou that sells decent bikes. Somewhere, where I can try before I buy.

I don't want to spend a fortune, and probably won't have to, seeing as all the bikes are made in China anyway.

Thank you all in advance.

There is an OK bike shop in Canton place. Halfway between Leide and Tancun metro station.

It sells "Cronus" cycles. Expensive, but they look ok. Nice frames and with Shimano kit on. I think they start at about 3000RMB and go up to the price of a car. I think this is the site:

There are also a few "Merida" bike shops about. There is one local to me but that's on the edge of GZ.

I don't know about a "bike street", but no doubt there will be one somewhere.

A quick google actually directs the seeker to this very website:

Thanks mate, that should get me started!
