I've seen that before. But it was with a spoilt little brat who'd obviously got the job because her daddy knows someone.

I've seen it too.  The owner of a language school I used to work at was always berating his staff....his Chinese staff.  Screaming at them like an hysterical maniac.  And I never saw anyone do anything other than stand there meekly and take it.  Didn't ever know what he was on about but I always felt sorry the staff.  On reflection I should've knocked the bastard out.

And yesterday my wife told me the new boss at her company has been yelling at people to display more nationalism and to embrace more maoism.  The department heads at the company have had to attend 8 hrs of communist propaganda these past two days and most of the content was shouted at them.

Lord_hanson:

More Maoism? perhaps they should take the rich boss to a public square and execute him with a gunshot to the head. They can then redistribute his wealth among the workers. Mao would be proud.

It is normal because the boss pays money.Just some boss are more polite and know the courtesy like my boss do.My Boss never call me bad.indecisionAnd so polite to me.

tomcatflyer:

It is not normal at all. The bosses who do this, like the ones who line up their staff and give them a lecture every day have no idea how to motivate people or run a good business. Like everything else in China it revolves around money and the boss thinks just because he has more money than his staff he can do what he likes. If you add to that a good dose of little dick syndrome it all adds up to an insecure little child in an adults body.

a former Departmental President used to to this.

for me it represents a total loss of self-control and dignity on the part of the person who does it, and an inability to communicate effectively, on par with a two-year-olds temper tantrum.

While my local colleagues cowered and were all apologetic feeding into and reinforcing this childish behaviour, i had to restrain myself from laughing at the sight of a grown man foaming at the mouth for no reason other than because he was indulged.

I believe it is a weird way to try and gain legitimacy . Most of the bosses here have got their jobs due to connections rather than being good at their job. This means they are not respected for their skill so they need another way to look legit. They think if they shout a lot people will think they are important. Of course it just makes them look stupid. A real important person doesn't need to shout.

Stiggs:

I think so too. If people don't respect you, and you don't even respect yourself, and you have no idea how to do your job, maybe shrieking at the staff will help.

What is the point of yelling? It is not like yelling will get things done anyway.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
