Q: Business , lies , and wechat.

Following on from Shining Brow's comments about lies.
I've been doing business on alibaba and bought a product from a manufacturer in Shanghai .
I bought it CIF so i only had to worry about my impert agent fees my end .
The next thing you know is these extra Chinese based fees I'm getting slugged to complete the transaction.
The Chinese true to form are trying to shift the blame to the Australian custom agent.
So i sent them a copy of the invoice to the Chinese company and asked them to show me where .
Surprise surprise
....can't get a straight answer.
And don't they get defensive when you confront them and tell them straight up they are trying to cheat you.
This is a good reason to use an trading company or do the job ex works and control it from your own country.

Despite people in the know, knowing what China is, they (like you) continue to do business with China.

Yeah but I let my guard down for a minute and paid the price. I should of gone there myself and bought it ex works and organized my own transportation. But Silly me thought Chinese had moved on from that crap

Actually looking at my last comment, I see a prime example of a foreigner admitting their mistake , face palm and move on . Chinese just look for someone else to blame .

Yeah, I've got crap like that.

Some 'accountant' is taking out 'tax' from a payment to me (800RMB out of a 5000 payment!!)

I'm awaiting the fapiao... bwahahahahaha

(and, this is a guy who was unable to make the payment to my bank account, because he didn't copy my name exactly as written on the photo of my account details... MORON!)

philbravery:

Ahh but it's your own fault for having you name clearly written in front of him . Why,,,,,,,,Because Chinese names are different to foreign monkeys names

Rule #1 of doing business with Chinese is to ask for upfront payment in full before doing anything. Do not allow delayed transactions "oh we don't have them money now, pay you later" because they will never pay you 100% chances.

I do not allow any of my customers to make bullshit excuses for themselves and will drop any of them who starts doing so without even giving it a second thought. You want to hire my services? You pay now, end of discussion. If you can't afford it then too bad for you.

Ever wondered why so many places in China ask for upfront payment? From massage parlors to restaurants to consultancies? Because they know exactly what I just talked about. The Chinese don't trust each others, why should you trust any of them?

Also do not ever allow your customers to know each others because they may get the wild idea to band and pressure you for various benefits. Finally don't allow them to have more in depth appreciation of your operating methods because it's the best way for them to shanzhai and undercut you.

If you have an office in China, keep every important documents, customer lists and contact information, etc... elsewhere or on an external hard drive, not in your office computers or cabinets so no one but yourself can access them.

Even if the government goes full retard with an anti-Foreign campaign they can raid my office all they want and they will find nothing of value and I will lose nothing for everything I need to keep it running or restart my business somewhere else exists in several copies none if which are in China or on China-based servers.

You have to be constantly on your guard and surround yourself with security mechanisms to ensure that you get it your way.
