Q: Can anyone help me find a consultant job(better in Shenzhen) for my friend who is from Jordan?

I have a foreign friend who comes from Jordan. He wants to find a consultant job (Education consultant is nice). He has experience in this job. The job is better in Shenzhen. If no this kind of job, a translator job will be also ok. He is a mixed-blood person(Jordan and Italy), so he can speak four languages(not including Chinese). Now he is studying abroad in China and will graduate soon. He can work two months later. If anybody knows any international companies which require this kind of job, I will appreciate that you tell me kindly. Thanks!

I know of 5 companies looking for a guy from Jordan to work as a consultant. But the problem is that they are making zero effort to try and fill the position. And your guy is making zero effort to try and find a job.  Soooooo....

Imee2016:

Hello Englteachted,

Happy New Year!

I just posted a question yesterday. I am glad that I can get your quick and kind answer, thank you so much!

The reason why it is I not my friend who posted a question here is that my friend is a foreigner. He does not know how to find a job in China or anywhere, because he can not speak Chinese and is not familiar with Chinese cities. I want him to find a job in Shenzhen, because I am in Shenzhen. If there are some companies in Shenzhen, I can take him there to have an interview(I am a Chinese who works in Shenzhen). He can also learn Chinese from me. If he develops in China, it is better to know how to speak Chinese. His Chinese is not that good although he has studies abroad in China almost for five years. what I say may lock the jobs in China, but if there are some good jobs, it is ok no matter  where they are. I think we can figure out how to find these companies. My friend does not know this website, and I just found this website several days ago. I am still not familiar with this website. Yes, I am a new member.

It is not so that we do not want to make efforts. It is that we do not have the direction, so although we want to make effort, it is useless. As we know, it is not easy to find jobs, especially for a foreigner who wants to find a job in China. You tell me the information, which does not mean he must get a job without efforts. He still needs to make big efforts. For example, if you introduce us a satisfied company, he needs to send a resume and accept the interview. And the point is that he must have the abilities and conditions that fit the job requirements and the employer of the company is willing to hire him, right?

This kind of thing is just like the blind date in China. I think I do not need to explain more about blind date. So if you tell us some useful information so that my friend find a job under your useful information, you will be our benefactor. And it is also a fate for me to post a  question and get your kind answer.

Best wishes

Hello Englteachted,

I would like to find a job like this kind. Below is the company I searched and my friend said this job is very nice. But this job needs bachelor degree from the top 30 universities in the USA. Pls see below!

【Key Responsibilities】
Education consultants will be responsible for researching and understanding the college admissions landscape and most importantly, working with our students to guide them through the application process. We also provide extracurricular planning and academic advising services to younger students who are not yet ready to apply to colleges.
Our consultants strive to understand each student and help them showcase their talents and potential. Evaluating potential majors, choosing the ideal college(s), assisting with the creation and development of admissions essays, and helping students to develop as "whole persons" are all part of our process.

Thank you

your friend has zero experience working in the field of education and would be unlikely to get a decent job.

you should research the employment requirements China has for foreigners working in education which is at least 2 years experience, not a graduate with zero experience in anything.

An Education consultant usually has some years working as a teacher, or a related field of education, here is an example

  • You must have a minimum of 5 years demonstrable sales experience ideally within an education certification market
  • Proven track record in achieving sales targets within specific deadlines
  • Good working knowledge of digital marketing sectors and technologies
  • Credible and confident at CSuite level with a strong network of contacts and excellent research skills
  • Presentation skills are crucial and you will need to illustrate willingness to present to all audience sizes
  • Strong reporting skills with a proven track record in delivering in a target driven environment to specific KPIs.
  • You take an analytical and strategic approach to developing your market.
  • Team player, who thinks like an owner and takes a proactive approach to developing your market

do your friend a favour and look for more realistic jobs

Let me explain. I am an idiot. A drunkard. But I have over 4000 posts on this site.If I can post here, so can your friend. If your friend wants a job, it does not show him in Good form that he is too scared to post. And this is your first post. Back to school dudes. You want everything for no effort.

Shining_brow:

But... it's a consultant job he wants.. isn't that what consultants do? Nothing - but get other people to do things for them (and then criticise every part of it and tell them they know better?)

so your friend has been studying in China for almost 5 years and can not speak Chinese, and apparently can not use a computer to search for a job by himself.

was he unable to use the 'jobs' section on this website?

most of the non-chinese people who work in China now probably had minimal to zero Chinese before they arrived, yet they managed to find work before they arrived by themselves.

Yes, a few would be here through being sent by their companies.

Most would have used the internet to search on job websites and researched the area prior to arrival, because they are fully functioning adults.

from what you say, your friend must be about 25 years old ( a guess)

and a consultant in what?

how long is a piece of string?

I for one would not introduce a stranger to a job if he had not got the initiative to do his own job search and had nothing to recommend him.

in fact, because a guy doesn't even do job search i would be reluctant to hire or recommend anyone who relies on another person to do such basic work for them.

tell your friend to use a search engine and enter ' jobs / Shenzhen' - it is the normal way people look for work.

This forum is not an agency for the lazy who can not even write their own requests for help.

Imee2016:

Ok, thanks for your suggestion!  I will tell my friend and let himself to find  the job. What you guys said are right! But I just posted a question by acting on my own. My friend does not know about this. And I searched the jobs at first, I found the proper jobs are limited, so I asked here whether there are some people who would like to recommend and introduce some companies. Then the range becomes wider and the information becomes more comprehensive. Whether he can get the job or not still lies in his own abilities. You guys are just like the guiding people. The way still needs himself to go! Thanks

I appreciate you are only trying to help a friend, but you are doing him no favours by doing this. It only makes him seem incompetent in the eyes of prospective employers.

Another word of advice, there is no need to say that your friend is of 'mixed blood'

that is irrelevant to anyone who is not Chinese as this would not impact on their ability to do a job.

Imee2016:

Yeah, you are right! The reason why I said he is a mixed-blood person is that he can also do a translator job, because he knows four languages. But it is really my fault that I did not detail what four languages he can speak here. Ignore that, just for introducing my friend, ok?

I think you talk to me with the attitude and tone of an employer, but I still thank your response and good intention.

this Answers section is not the place to be doing a job search.

and I would neither employ or recommend a person I have not worked with or known for many years.

do NOT send your friend here to look for work, but to the 'jobs' section.

this is NOT the employment section of the forum

i wish your friend luck, but please look on job sites.

@cub,

I suggest you pay more attention to your own responses than other people's, especially if  the comments are not answering your questions or comments.

Frankly i am not impressed in the least by your answers, regardless of to whom they are addressed, so getting a metaphorical 'thumbs-up' from you for my answers is irrelevant to me. I respond as i see fit.

Like a bank, in any forum you get out what you put in.

if you post derogatory butt-hurt comments people will respond in kind, especially if you mostly contribute nothing positive or useful in your comments to the questions.

You admitted yourself that you are not even in China and have not experienced life in China, yet you are quick to criticize the shared experiences of those who know what they are talking about.

While everyone is free to comment as they wish, you can not police people's attitudes to conform to yours, especially as you did admit a few months ago that you posted 'test/fake' questions.

You have been outed as an unreliable poster who may/may not be posting entirely to provoke, so why are you surprised by people's attitudes?

as i have said before, i usually give new posters the benefit of the doubt for a while, but after a while, a pattern of questions/comments emerges. I don't pretend to be 'holier than thou', and some have said my comments are harsh, but in the real world, especially online, not everyone is going to agree with me.

I've recommended two people i knew for jobs in the past. Both these seemingly normal people turned into total fuckups once employed. Kinda bit me on the arse. Now I am soooo wary, I wouldn't recommend anyone for anything. End of story.

Oh, and cub.....eat shit dickhead!

Englteachted:

Once a teacher inquired about working at my University as a teacher. I told him the details (salary, teaching hours etc.) and he said he was interested. I referred him to my FAO (wonderful guy great at his job and honest). Later the asshole told me cursed out the FAO because he wanted to be paid 2000rmb more than everyone else and work 10 hours a week. We all worked 14 class hours a week. I told the asshole to never talk to me again and I apologized endlessly to my FAO who never even brought it up to me.

Now I never refer anyone to a school I worked at.

You're not the only one, I got caught out like that too. I recommended a guy I thought I knew pretty well, and he turned out to be a complete fuckwit who got fired.

I never recommend people now, if I know of a job going and think they might be ok I just refer them to whoever is in charge of hiring and they're on their own after that.
