Q: Can anyone recommend some youth hostels or cheaper motels/hotels in Shanghai? Thank you!

Can anyone recommend accomodations for me in Shanghai? I read that foreigners here are not allowed to stay in hotels below 3 stars.

Ciao!

The Ibis Hotel at Yu Yuan is okay. You can get some cheap rates if you book online. The hotel is pretty basic, but clean and the location is great for sight seeing.

beetle,

Thank you. * What's the closest metro station to that hotel?

* Also, do you have a website address and telephone number for that hotel?

Cheers

I stayed at the Jinjiang Inn that was about 10 minutes walk fro the Bund. I use them quite often and rooms for 2 with breakfast are in the 250RMB range a night. Free internet, decent clean rooms and are found all over China.

LAR:

Thank you Woody. * Do you have any contact info. for the Jinjiang Inn as you mentioned? (website address, telephone number, etc.)

A couple of links here. This is not the one I stayed at but looks fine and shows at around 260RMB for a single. I have stayed in lots of the chain and all are good value.

The one I stayed in was in an older area with lots of restaurants and alleys. There were many shops selling musical instruments in the area so some one more familiar may help

if you are still in need of a room, I can offer you one for free. I am a student of SISU in shanghai and I live in dormitory. all my roommates have left for home because of summer holiday. and I got an intern job. if you don't care the living condition, you can just message me.
