Not saying I WILL do this...but seeing as how I hate my landlord very, very much...what would you say the risks are? Chances of getting caught at the airport? Am I out of trouble once outside of China?

The BIG QUESTION is how to manage that, since to my knowledge in China you must pay rent in advance (many landlords require from 3 to 6 months rent, plus deposit). So, how will you manage to live on a flat and do not pay enough rent to at least recover your deposit?. I will be waiting for your reply. A local acquaintance rented an apartment for 3500 Rmb per month. After a couple of years, decided to ask for a reduction in rent to 2500 Rmb per month. Landlord refused to accept, so fellow told landlord he was moving out breaking contract. landlord refused to return money of rent paid in advance, nor the deposit money, so tenat went a bit crazy and trashed apartment before moving out. Issue was settle out of Court months later with tenant renouncing to his claim for rent money and deposit money returned to him.
No, foriegn countries, especially yours, are known for extraditing people who haven't paid rent.

Isn't Bill Clinton (ex-president of the USA) still in asylum from China, due to not paying rent??
I'm pretty sure you paid a deposit and I'm wondering about your entire mind set on why such a question would be asked
They will send a team of Ayi's to hunt you down and carry you back to your laondlord....
