Q: Can you extend a 6 month tourist visa?

Will the PSB allow me to extend my 6 months tourist visa for another 6 months? How many times can you extend it? All the website I checked just confused me.

Extensions are usually for just a month as far as I am aware. Pretty sure you can't get 6 months. Extensions are meant for when things are unplanned in your trip, or something comes up and you need a bit more time. In my opinion. don't waste time with short extensions if you plan on staying longer, just go to HK and get a better visa.

i thought L visa is maximum 3 month?

smoglife:

I got a 6 month tourist visa, double entry for my British passport. So I have to leave after 90 days but i can come back in on the same visa. Then I have to leave after another 90 days.

Though I should state before being given it I also thought you could only get on for 3 months, but when I picked it up it was for 6 months.

On the visa form I asked for double entry, and said my maximum length of entry was 90 days. Turns out it means I can come in twice and stay 90 days for each stay. They do not make this clear at all.

Your question confuses me a little.  What really do you wish to extend, the validity of the visa, or the number of days you can stay in China once you enter ?  You can not extend the validity of a visa, once it expires, you must request another one.  And also, I doubt seriously you will get an L visa that will allow you to stay in China for 180 days.

So, I will assume your question was if you could extend the number of days you can stay in China once you entered on a 6 months tourist visa. Yes, you will have to go to PSB and request it, will have to state reason for the request, and show at least either in cash or at a bank account 20,000 yuan deposited in China. You can be granted a maximum of two 30 day extensions, and if so, after that you must leave.

I think your question is whether you can get another 6 month tourist visa without leaving the country. You cannot!

From my experience if you want another 6 month tourist visa you have to leave the country.

If you want to extend your tourist visa you can only extend it 30 days. I think you can only do that twice (not 100% on that though)

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change student visa to labourer one is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
