Q: Is the censorship just increasing because it's near the holidays or is this a permanent thing?

VPNs are bad. Only people who want to do bad things to China use VPNs. China is very free, is happy. Economy is good. But too many people. Harmony is most important to Chinese people

might be isolated to your VPN provider. But censorship is steadily rising under the Xi-dynasty.

I got an email from my VPN provider saying that there are issues across the board. I have been fine, but I know a lot of people who can't sign in anymore, or once signed in, it just doesn't work.

I think it might pass, it was also like this in the run up to October holiday/ APEC

Laughing out loud

They are contributing to the development of better encryption and anonymity bypasses and protocols, which is a good thing.

Let them do their thing, you'll always have a solution, and they're hurting themselves and their people more than they're hurting anyone else.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
