Q: Change of new employer and new passport

Hi,

I was employed to work in Shanghai on November 2011. I have my working permit and resident permit done by my ex company which will be expired on July 2012 (Due to my passport expiry date). However, I resigned after one month of working with the company. I returned my resident permit booklet to my ex company on my last day of employment. On April 2012, I was employed by my new employer. I returned back to Germany on May 2012 to get my passport renewed. My problem is how can I apply a new resident permit? Should I transfer my old working permit or should I reapply my working permit all over again?

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Danny

You may have another problem in your hands if you do not have a visa on your new passport to enter China when you return.  You will need to get a new work visa, and go thru the procedure of a new FEC, work permit, health certificate and residence permit again, since the old ones were tied to the old place of employment and your old passport number.

If you had applied within 10 days of changing jobs, then you just get employer's name changed, but now you will need a new one.
