The cost of child birth in China will depend on the city you are at, the hospital you choose, and tghe room selected with nurse services.  And of course, if delivery of baby is by cesarean operation, or vaginal delivery.

While the average cost for all China seem to be around 3,000 Rmb, back in 2007 in Xian a vaginal delivery was in the 1,000 to 2,000 Rmb range, and a cesarean operation in the 3,000 to 5,000 Rmb range.

If there is no health insurance, cost may be higher for a private individual, costs for health insurance coverage are lower.  And the individual pays maybe 20 to 30 %.  Most all hospitals want the charges prepaid at check in time, or a very large deposit made.

Hope this helps you some
