I had this circlet of shrimp dumplings in Liwan St i think it was as good as it gets.
What other St food is good?
I wouldn't eat anything off the streets anymore, too paranoid after I read and heard about this ...

Yeah heard that too. Also in SH in the recent weeks, they busted a guy who was selling 'Lamb skewers' He was actually selling stray dog, cat and rat meat, soaking it in lamb piss to give it that lamb meat scent, thennn marinate it for a while then add some spices. Really taking a risk there.

Indeed, they are such master of deception. Without caring if people live or die. As long as they can make som Yuan. But I do still like Mala soup, and in winter, I love sweet potatos (apparently they also aren't safe to eat ?)
The shandong jianbing is ok.
But yeah, I'd keep away from all those bbq and meat stuff from the street.
Is jianbing like pancakes? I think i have had them before they are nice.

Yap. It's really nice. It doesn't have any meat and adding an extra egg or two makes it even better!
Chest nut.. i normally buy only if the cover is not cracked... atleast insdide is clean.. .
nothing else... ether find one reputed restaurant.. if nothing look for kfc/McD... if end up with nothing.. max.. i'll eat boiled tea eggs.. which is always boiling.. no oil... so may be its safer..
bbq made of cat meat.

I like them on my lap, I have one that curls around my neck, I never want one on my dinner plate.
I like the fried noodles and a wrap thing that looks like they cook on a garbage can, but I rarely see them.
the best street snack in china and the healthiest is not to eat off the street

china has various snacks in many cities, but outside eating is not safe and health.
I strongly reccomend to make the snacks urself at home.

we're located in shanghai, nearby shanghai railway station.
Won't even get close to any street snacks, I'll only do the small shops selling some snacks at the front door. I like any of the fried breads that are usually stuffed with a little meat and a light hint of sauce.
I have eaten most types of street food. If the locals are queuing (or even better pushing and shoving to get some) I figure it's good enough for me. Favorites are BBQ skewers (esp lamb and squid), all types of pancakes, noodles, pitta type bread with meat filling, corn on the cob, tanghulu, the compressed dried fruit that they slice off a piece for you. Touch wood I have never been ill from food in China. My advice to give it a try.
As for the OP's question there are so many places that sell street food there is no such thing as the best place IFAIC
late night time i like to go to the outside bbq places and grab a cold beer and some grilled rat meat. I was never a fan of rat meat but its not bad now adays
If you want to try out many kinds of snacks, you should travel to Chaozhou.
the street pancakes with a crisp in the middle...and the breakfast ones...with chilli sauce and a bit of lettuce...
