All ECC members who are Chinese How long did it take you to apply then get a visa to visit the US? A month? 3 months? 6 months or longer?

I thought the Question was pretty straight forward .
He has asked a group of people who might have had to go through the same process for their spouse / partner prior to marriage .
All he wants to know is what would the average time his friend could expect to wait for a visitor visa to the USA ?
Seems like a reasonable question.
Cub you might want to try another forum for a answer , GZ stuff looks like a friendly forum .

thanks Kadicha, THATS the kind of answer i wanted that HELPS me gives me a ANSWER to my question!
@corta, no im not chinese so using Baidu is out Now, is it that hard or is it a huge inconvenience for u to answer my question with a question here? I want to hear this directly straight from a chinese person who has done this before they know the process the time and yes, i know there are at least 5 types ov visas and the alloted time a visa will be varies ok?
Hotwater:
Wind your neck in! Corta made a suggestion! Plus as noted below there aren't that many Chinese posters on here. Cotta is a newbie & also a student. So give him a break.
cub:
hey hot, its the content of how corta said this! Since when is it a crime to ask a question? the lazy way is looking this up on google yahoo in seconds or other info sites! Yes its faster but what is the hurry? So i should stop asking questions here about china? What happens if a 100 0r 50 ECC members stop asking questions here and go to the net to get answers instead of ECC? then its over for this site! A simple answer would suffice not sarcasm!
It really depends on which visa they are applying for, but Wow... I found the answer to this question in less than 17 seconds. I used this newfangled doohickey called a Search Engine. Google, Bing, Baidu, Yahoo...
Hey genius, this is primarily an Expat forum... Meaning that a significant amount of us are not Chinese. You might want to go to some Chinese forums in USA to get an answer directly from a Chinese person.
cub:
spider i know this site is mostly made up of non chinese members! Just maybe a non chinese member on ECC has a spouse who is chinese or a chinese who is a ECC member and has had to get a visa to go to the US Did u think of this? Anything is possible! Thats why i specified a chinese ECC member who has had to get a visa and a ECC menbers spouse who is chinese will know
And the point? You're not doing this for a friend because they'll know. And you asked this very question before. Admin asked where did you guys go, this type of foolish tactic to move things along and artificially inflate site traffic drives people away.
cub:
englteached does it matter why i want to know? Does it matter? Its a question not a test or a trick question or a trap. Its just a question. No, we dont need to anylize disect my question just need to answer it! Did u think maybe another new ECC member sees this question just maybe the want to know the asnswer too? Are we bored since not many questions are being asked on ECC? And no engleteached I didn't ask this question before! The difference is I am asking a Chinese ECC member this not a expat! And any non Chinese a expat on this site wants to answer great! And no, im not trying to stir up some action here for a rating! Its all the sarcasm the non answers to my question is what is generating a ''buzz' or rating

some are waiting for approval... I am sure you know what it means..

cub, there are many variables depending upon the situation of the person that may affect the time it takes to complete the gisa process. These include: whether they have travelled abroad before, property ownership in china, amount of money in the bank, reason for travelling, duration of stay, length of visa, just to name a few. It is on a case by case basis. Some may take between one to two weeks, others may be longer. My advice is to (a) check with the embassy and (b) do a search on www.reddit.com where you will almost certainly find others asking the same question. Good luck
cub:
wolf i have asked a embassy this question and they say maybe a month or more, And of couse the variables u mentioned will delay or speed up the waiting time!
Good reply from Iwolf, just one thing to add of my own. When your Chinese friend applies for the visa tell her NOT TO LIE! I've read a number of sorry tales of visas being refused as the forms weren't filled in honestly and this came out during the interviews at the consulate.
One other thing....read any guidelines for filling in the form and the application process carefully. If you follow them all it makes for a better chance of success.
maybe I didn't know what you truly mean(whether you want an answer or approval)
1.if you want an accurate/detailed range of time for visa, check this website:http://jingyan.baidu.com/article/6525d4b1335b17ac7d2e94cd.html.....Because you don't tell us your detail(age, gender, address,ID card, income),how could I find such thing without any detail? I know someone done it within 7-15days,a month of half, it depends on which site you apply, and the assessment/judgment? time...
2.I'll only provide guidance to unrelated question....
can anyone tell what wrong with my answer? really this kind of question is appropriate for expats to answer?
cub:
Corta, its a question related to china it was in the visa catagory its a legit question and yes, i should had been more specific more detailed not so generic my mistake sorry! i just wanted to know first hand from a chines person on ECC who has done this before. Maybe others here had a simular question that didnt ask who knows?
If you want a tourist visa, your best bet is an invitation letter from a U.S. citizen and their family, proof of ownership of property in China or your parents' property ownership, and a varying amount of money in your account depending on who you are, who is inviting you, and who is interviewing you.
cub:
ok Zethe, good answers, tell me how do i send a invitation letter to such a person to help the visa process? This person has aplied for a visa a month ago. Do i email this letter to them? Is there a standard or official form i need to send it with whatever needed info? What do i write or form the invitation like?
Stiggs:
If the visa has already been applied for I don't think there's much you can do now except wait.
Zethe:
It's the same kind of format as getting an invitation letter from a Chinese citizen to get a tourist visa to China.
You can email it to them, and you probably need to show you have an American Passport or ID to the embassy when they inquire the person being interviewed who they will visit.
Also, you provide the address where they will be visiting you at, the time frame, reason, and state that you will be providing accommodation for them while they will pay for all other expenses (this is an easy way to avoid having to report what hotel you will be staying in).
I should add they should have submitted these things when they initially applied for the tourist visa. If they already applied, too late.Zethe:
One more thing, Every U.S. embassy's primary focus in China is giving visa advice and handling visa processes.
It's just about their ONLY use.
Call the Beijing U.S. Embassy, they're pretty informative.
Some of the regular forum users on ECC are way too biased towards who is asking the question. This is starting to turn into an inclusive club, rather than a site where anyone can ask questions related to China.
I'd actually like to hear some legitimate answers to this question. I think we all know we can use a search engine to find the answers, but they're not usually as interesting nor as detailed as personal stories.
Grow up and answer the questions or don't post on the topic.
i am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if you use an agency, most people will, when she interviews at the embassy for the visa, they will approve or disapprove her that very day she is there. If she has been there and does not have an answer, the agency is simply stalling the process by not telling her, she was given a 'yes' or "no" the day she talked to the embassy state department officials. The chinese usually line up in the morning and if they get a yes, pick up there approved documents in the afternoon about 2:30. My wife and my girlfriends travel frequently to the states, not sure why, I never visit anymore, if the person has done some travel to other countries and returned on time, it looks better for approval. when the agency sets an appointment and has the necessary documents, they usually can book online and get an appointment 14 - 21 days out in Beijing and 14 days out in sheyang, not sure about guangzhou, never used the service there, recently moved to the south part, most experience is in north china, sorry a little clarification, the wife is russian, gf's are chinese.
cub:
this is the 1st time i have heard they get approved or not on the same day. i read somewhere a chinese lady applied for a visa to the US and it took 9 months but she got it Her american bf in the US was suspicious why it was taking so long started to doubt she had applied but after 9 months wait she got her visa
retiredinchina:
it was not 9 months for a tourist visa, she got a "no" and applied again and got a "yes". sometimes people apply and try 5 or 6 times till they are approved.
cub:
ok retired, i guess this happened the lady never did say how many times if she had applied for a visa till it was approved Then again, maybe she waited applied only once at it took this long afterall if it has mistakes that delays it then have to apply again
