Q: Chinese girls and see-thru clothing?

What's the deal with Chinese girls wearing see-thru clothing all the time?

I guess I can understand if it were a Friday night and they were going clubbing, but I see girls wearing mini-skirts, transparent dresses and the like on their way to the office in the morning!

Is this not considered a bit tacky/trampy here? Is there no "appropriate" dress code?

EDIT: Not that I'm complaining...just surprised since I (mis)thought that Chinese girls were more "modest" than Western girls

for Chinese girls, seeking a husband is a 24 hours job no matter where they are.  So, they must advertise their respective assets all the time.  Besides, if you see bra, or panties, no problem, only if you can see deeper it would become a problem.

So, why do you complain or care?  It is a pretty good show anyway.

HappyExPat:

Pogger: of course they do. Do you think local ladies will dress like that for just fun? If it did not work, will not be done. For you is bad taste and lack of modesty, for them it is nothing wrong with showing a bra or a panty under a translucid or see thru piece of cloth.

I wouldn't marry a woman whose body's already been seen by pretty much everyone, or who dresses like a tramp...

But again, "it's another culture".

It's the same in Vietnam. The girls work harder to find a husband than they do to advance their careers. Just a difference in attitudes to family vs. career.

When I asked a few people, the answer I got usually ended with "western women dress with even more revealing outfits". I guess movies showing slutty women and TV stars are part of the reason.

The ones I see in Nanning usually have miniskirts under the see through over skirt, and if the blouse is see through then they ALWAYS wear a bra and usually a crop top vest type combination as well.

When you look at the overall combination there is usually a lot LESS on show than when they just wear mini skirts or shorts. I like it, I find the suggestion of nudity while still hiding some / most of the body much more erotic than blatant nudity.

I had reason to spend some time in Arab countries and I found wearing more baggy traditional Arab clothes (e.g. that traditional arab robes, (I didn't wear them as that is / was illegal for a foreigner)) much cooler in hot climates than either bare skin or more clothing.

mikael84:

The Arab ones are called Abayas and they are indeed comfortable in the hot weather.

Attractive? Not so much.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
