Q: Chinese made smart phones, good value for money ?

Iphone 5 coming to China in a few days.

Selling price around 5000 yuan piece.

But we have an array of new chinese made smart phones that are much cheaper and with a number of features that make them really appealing to the afficionados of new technology.

They seem to be really good value for money, and their quality is getting much better and better.

At less than half the price of the Iphone 5, they are selling like hotcakes.

Wanna give it a try ?

For around 3000 RMB you can get a really good HTC or Samsung phone, especially if you go for one of the slightly older models like the Galaxy 2 or Note 1.

I had a ZTC. It was junk in about ten months.

I'll try a Samsung or HTC but they're not exactly Chinese.

Was actually considering getting a Chinese phone before...A couple of good ones are Meizu and Xiaomi...One of my students has the new Xiaomi 2, seems sweet, specs are amazing too, 2000 RMB...but not so easy to buy...sells out fast I think...

HTC is Chinese and a good brand..

I'd stay away from Huawei.  We have a Huawei wireless router and it's complete garbage and the wireless keeps cycling on and off.  My girlfriend got a free Huawei cell phone with her cellular service and the phone died about 2 months later. It was a nice phone, Android 4.0 with a big screen but it is just made too poorly.   They replaced it, but it probably won't be long before the replacement dies.

If you want to go for the best, go for Samsung.  My girlfriend's friends all bought Samsung phones recently and I was just at Hong Kong and saw a lot of people with Samsung phones there as well.

Apple is going down in flames without Steve Jobs.. Android marketshare is now up to 75% and steadily increasing. Google is going to beat Apple the same way Microsoft beat Apple in the 1980s..  Simply by swamping the market with hundreds of different brands of hardware for much cheaper prices giving people as many options to choose exactly what they want without paying premium apple prices for stuff they don't need.Apple never learns from their mistakes which is why they're always doomed to end up at <3% marketshare. Apple is making the same silly mistakes they made in the past that nearly put the whole company out of business, and without Steve Jobs to come save the company, they're in deep poo now.

I have a Motorola.. While it is nice, thin, and durable, Motorola has the bootloader locked by default and they're also slow at providing OS updates. A lot of fairly new Motorola phones aren't even getting the new Android OS.. Samsung is a lot better in that regard. If I had to buy a new phone tomorrow, I'd definitely buy a Samsung.

If you talk about Chinese made smartphones then there two categories..1. Those Chinese brand which are reputed and known in the market like Huawei, Lenovo etc., 2. Those which are made in a illegal factory consist of one room and 3-4 people and carrying all the features like Galaxy S3 and i Phone.

If you go for category 1. then really it is value for money..at lower price you will get all the features with good quality and promising life.

If you go for category 2 then again it is value for money in short run only. But in long term it will be not a good deal fro you as it does not contain any IMEI number as well does not follow any safety regulation.. so the radiation will be high which will affect your health and most affected part will be your eyes..one risk of exploding the battery will be always there..

So my suggestion is go for Chinese brands but reputed one...

My colleagues also point out that Xiaomi handphones are all the craze right now, then of course there are the fans of Samsung, of Motorola, of HTC, but curiously nobody is whispering Nokia, this Finnish brand is quickly losing market shares and if they do not come out with some competitive new products and some aggressive marketing, they will find it harder and harder to recover the lost ground.

I do not wipe them out completely as they might make a recovery, take Apple for example, they are doing fantastic with their Iphones and making tons of profits.

The Shanzai chinese phones are both a curse and a blessing, they keep the market flooded with cheap imitations and sometimes come up with really remarkable features and ideas, on the other hand their quality standards vary from appalling to remarkably robust.

The variety and diversity offered by the chinese market is indeed astonishing and hard to visualize, a visit to Hua Qian Bei in Shenzhen will convince you of this with its vitality and livelihood.
