Q: As a Chinese National, what do you wish foreigners would understand about China?

And as a foreign national, don't get defensive about their answers. Here's a chance for our Chinese members to express "what we wish they knew..."

Forgive the seemingly self-indulgent nature of my last two posts, which the 'echina' powers that be quite rightly deleted. It was actually my way of saying "This space is going to stay empty."

In actual fact I like the question, I just don't see any of our Chinese companions on this forum putting themselves out there in a hurry to answer it, but I rather wish some of them would. I'd like them to prove me wrong.

1,4 billion Chinese, not all same you dont like we generalize foreigners (we do often it is true), we also dont like, in addition its not true.

also we have tradition still in some place. some seem crazy to foreigner, but remember before foreigners also have tradition. very crazy too, and dangerous. maybe need more time for China to grow and change. But i think big cities already change a lot, you don't think?

i think in big cities now chinese dont really care for foreigners. now it is normal there are foreigners. maybe small cities still strange and not used to foreigners.

mArtiAn:

  Thanks for proving me wrong:)

So, you say that the Chinese in big cities 'don't care for foreigners'. By this do you mean they're not interested in them or they don't like them? Also you go on to say that maybe in the smaller cities they're not used to foreigners. How do you think the attitude toward foreigners will change as China in general does get used to having so many foreigners living here? I ask because I am married to a Chinese lady and have a child with her and no immediate plans to return to my own country.
