Q: Chinese officials sending their kids abroad and then praising Chinese system?

The rich and powerful in the corridors of power in the Chinese government send their kids to foreign countries for high school and mostly for university, then turn around and praise the system in China, and how everything is candies and rainbows.

What does the average Chinese think about this? Do they think it's simply a right derived from their power? Do they cry out 'hypocrit!'?

Are there differences according to how old the person is, and only the younger generation of Chinese (who don't have the money to go abroad) are pissed?

I would say that those who can't afford to send their children abroad are upset that officials do. There's nothing they can do to stop them. Besides, if they could afford it, they'd send their children as well.

It is part of the whole circus over here. Officials are "expected" to praise or fix the sistem, so they praise it while sending their kids overseas or to international schools. The locals are not fooled, but unable to do anything about it just shrug their shoulders and continue on with their lives.

That's the hypocrisy and irony of communist or anti-democratic countries : they always scream against Western countries, but are very happy to enroll their children to expensive Western schools and then boast themselves that they did so.

In my opinion, Chinese people will never consider it as an hypocrisy.....as well emperors in the previous Chinese dynasties could break any law at their convenience and not be judged by people, they know that people working for the government have more or less the same privileges.

Is it so wrong to praise the Chinese system as well as doing what you think might be best for your child. Do you know of many people in power in any country in the world who does very much different. There are few perfect people, But there is in good homes and societies a common wish that that our children are given the best we can, It is through reason and education we are most liable to understand each other. Please excuse an ordinary English mans view
