Q: Chinese perception on obesity?

What is Chinese people general opinion about obesity? Is it associated with wealth? I recently noticed some mixed couples with a Westerner woman, but most of the women were carrying some extra pounds. One time, at a restaurant, I saw this Irish land whale ordering a salad then picking on her boyfriend's plate. Couldn't hear the conversation but you betcha it was funny.

So I was wondering if Chinese men perception on obesity was any different from 'Merica or Olde Europe?

If you're fat here, it can indicate wealth, but really it doesn't mean much. So many guys over 35 have huge beer bellies.

As a rule of thumb, just like back home, they find fat people funny here, almost endearing.

Actual obesity here is quite low, though. I think a Chinese going to the USA would have a heart attack.

Obesity is a big issue for all as it bring hypertension, blood pressure, diabetes and many more. But one can loose his or her fat with healthy diet plan and regular physical workout. Losing 1-2 pounds in a week is a safe amount and quite effective for your health, and for that you have to burn 500 more calories every day. You can lose 3 or more pounds in a week with taking a healthy diet and lots of exercise. If you want to know more on fat issues read Obesity or Weight Loss - How To Start ?
