Hello folks,
I'm going back home for christmas to spend the holidays with my family. So I got already alot of presents but my gf's parents wanna present something to my parents but they always ask me what my parents want. Since I have no idea and my parents just say "we dont want anything blabla", I would like to have some advice or suggestions.
What are good things to bring from china, everything you can wear on your body is out, I bought tons of that already
They previously wanted to present my parents some china dresses, but i said no please they wouldnt ever wear that.
any thoughts?
I still got room in a container if you need help shipping. I'm going to be rich when I let them loose.
Fancy chopsticks
Some fancy tea
I think this is a problem we all face, and it is really difficult to find something that is not available in 'back home country' However things like e.g. a set of chopsticks. It's not just chopsticks (yeah yeah, I know it is) but a story. A gift box with two pairs of chopsticks presented to a married couple is a wish they will be together forever. Find the tea they drink in that Tibetan village where they have above average life spans.
Something that says China, can be pretty ordinary but there can be more to it.
Note. You could also tell your gf's parents that it is not custom for your parents to get stuff from them blah blah blah, so you wont have to spend the rest of your life as a mule carrying stuff back and forth. Chinese gift culture tend to accelerate. (and this is where chopsticks are good as they will not fill your luggage)

yeah i told them no need to bring presents its not common blabla but they insist on presenting something...
Chinese things, mahjong set, silk fans, electric scooter, seat covers
Give China (porcelain) from China (country). Win win.
I wanted to get this on the front page again as I'm going home and need some gift ideas. I will also need to bring things back, for what little guanxi I have. Any more ideas?
when I bring my family in Texas stuff from China, they just look at it... so friggin' funny.

I went back home last year for my brother's wedding and wanted to get them something Chinese so I got them a really nice tea set. Not sure if they use it or not but I think it's a nice gift. I got one for my parents too and they use it every night with the Chinese tea I gave them with it.
