Q: Dear Anti-anonymity squad,..........

Ok anti-anonymity squad just think of this scenario for a moment: A teacher who has never been to China before and has heard a lot about foreigners getting screwed over, decides to throw caution to the wind and apply for a position advertised on this site. They manage to get an interview which they pass, they are then offered a contract. The teacher reads a lot of conflicting advice on the internet about things to watch out for and still has little idea if all is genuine about the contract. Is it supposed to have a red mark at the top? Is it supposed to have a Chinese version to sign to etc etc. The teacher doesn't know where else to get advice apart from on the Echinacities forum, however as the company are also members on the website and may see the post, the teacher is being a little bit careful about what they post and decides it best to stay anonymous to be on the safe side. What should they have done instead? Where can they get good advice? Anyway I know you'll boycott this too, fair enough, but please give a thought to the non-trolls who just want some things to not be known to all at the moment. As for the trolls -go f**k yourselves!

Do employers advertising on here actually know our username, if we apply for a position with them? Don't they just know the name on our C.V.? Not sure on that one? You may be being a little paranoid?

I don't get all this anti stuff.

It harks back to the stupid days of closed shops and over powerful unions.

It should be up to the individual "expert" to decide what is a genuine question and what is not. After all, we are all self professed experts. My knowledge is limited but I signed up to share it.... even tho it turns out more often than not to be wrong.

Not everyone is confident on the web after all.

And.... dare I say it..... I done a lot of searching before deciding to sign up here. It's by far the best and most active forum for foreigners in China wink

I like it.

I agree with you ScotsAlan, I've used it myself from time to time, I don't think we should censor anonymous posts. I'm all for freedom of expression in whatever form,! Not sure on if employers find out our usermname though....never even thought of that one?! I would assume not?!?!

Honestly? I think if a poster wants to ask questions about a school or a job in a certain province, he would have logged on as a registered user and he would have an avatar and a pseudonym right? If that is the case, why would he still need to go anonymous? Most of the questions posted about jobs/schools are usually not anonymous. If you've noticed lately, most anonymous posters ask REPEATEDLY about the same issues (getting paid in 7 days, paid next week, paid less than contracted). Do these questions need to be asked hidden behind a veil of anonymity? Ask openly and as a matter of fact there are many here who would assist with information. There were also many anonymous posters who seemed to create animosity towards race, nationality etc. This is a site for those working in China to help, offer help and sometimes to vent their frustrations. I honestly don't see why or how it has turned into a troll infested pit! So for those who want to indulge in obliging the trolls, please do so, after all, it's freedom of expression as kirateach has pointed out. Enjoy!

I don't see the sense in posting anonymously. Do you know who I really am? I could even be a Chinese person. I say what I want, ask what I want. If someone doesn't like it, tough chips.BTW, not everyone on this site is a teacher.

I don't get it. Foreigners are attracted to China because it's different.

And the first thing they do when they get here is complain about the differences.

My above rant really relates to my background.

Before I came here I lived for ten years in an Island nation of about 80k people. That was an independent state.

The biggest complaint there was that in comers would try to change the place to become more like the place they had just escaped from. I saw it many times.

I don't care if anyone posts anonymously here. I don't care if you're a wumao, five lincoln or a militant heterosexual hell-bent on making heterosexuality mandatory. I just care whether or not you're respectful in your posts.

Every time someone posts something anonymously, or something we don't agree with, we have to accuse them of being a wumao, and everyone jumps on the wumao bandwagon and it gets ridiculously retarded. Really.

The thing about accusing people with bad English of being Wumaos is strange. Really strange. Have any of you ever been to an international college in China? I've been to several. I've studied at one.

Most of the students weren't from western countries. Most of the foreigners aren't from western countries. I've seen the ENTIRE database at my old school. Most people were from East/Southeast Asia, Saudi Arabia, India, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, all Africa, Iran, Kuwait, etc. A smaller percentage are from Europe, and the smallest percentage comes from native English-speaking countries. DO YOU EXPECT NON-NATIVES TO UNDERSTAND ENGLISH AT OUR LEVEL? Get real. Every time I see someone whining about someone's English level while, or accusing them of being a wumao, I downvote them.

Again, most of the foreigners in China aren't westerners with a good command of English. Most of them are international students from Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

Stop driving people away. I'm sick of seeing it.

How I'm not 'anonymous' by OP's post, signed in with my cat's pic and '2 numbers and 5 letters' handle?

Posters on the Board can read my posting history, but that's it.

So why not register, before you post Q?

No replies to anon is the latest 'affirmative action' trend on the Board.

He/she can ask question anonymously, but later he/she must make comments and make more answers so we could help him/her with more details. Comments and answers cannot be anonymous. Right?

When I ask a question there is always additional information required so people here could answer me properly.

louischuahm:

The trouble is that they don't reply to comments. Often, they would ask very ambiguous questions and let the community fight over it. All he does is stand on the sidelines and watch. That's idiotic. Other times, they would post caustic remarks about nationalities or race related issues. You can see all their posts almost everyday. I wonder if these people do that for a living. I mean visit all expat sites, stir shit then get paid by someone or some organization.

If people on here are bitching about anonyminity of people....then f--k em I won't ask questions here anymore.... All aspects of our lives are invaded; now you have self righteous assholes playing the high ground..... ridiculous

icnif77:

You invaded yourself!

1st: you need 'the brain' to fuck me!surprise

2nd: we'll miss your Qs in proper slang, especially all of us Non-natives!angel

3rd: It's nobody's fault here, you're Black!

Once, while I was working in very busy joint in US, African American woman accused me, I took order for meal of white person before hers!

I replied: 'Pull your skin down, and I'll pull mine! What is the colour below?' (I was really saying: 'Fuck off', just 'cause I was busy!)

Please, never forget this reply! Not even, when you're standing in front of the mirror! You have my authorisation to tattoo it to your forearm!

@chamu: Are you Black in China? How sad! We'll all pray for you in our home altars! Where's C. Darwin?

I'm an insulin dependent diabetic, who must inject insulin 5 times a day! My employers or my friends don't know that! I consider it as 'my private matter'!

While visiting my home few months ago, my diabetologist called me 'MD', after she saw my blood test results! She would let me leave her 'vicinity', only if my blood tests are splendid! She's the LAW (of leaving my home country), not my passport! My mum (retired MD) had bed ready for me, 'cause, he's ill!' Last blood tests I had was 3Y ago! Not every 3M as required for Dia! I've visited more than 900 cities around the World, with syringe in my pocket.

OOOOhh, but I'm black! Nobody likes me!

Fork off!

Are you retarded? Whoever hired me, she doesn't speak English. Same is with your employer: 'You got hired because you're probably holding Native English passport!'

Try yourself in Japan or Russia, with your passport!

If you're in China, stop crying! Nobody cares for your proper English. They're looking for 'heart'! I'm here 5Y, doing nothing else but 'English is pleasant language!' with my flawed grasp.

If I would be Black, I would try Africa or Middle East! Did you ever think about coming to help Africans to get good grasp of English? You should do it as 'gratuity' to poor Africans! I would, but my Chinese GF didn't like Black people, so I stayed in China!

When I'm thinking you're cringing, I want to pull my pants down! You're allowed to come very close and cringe!

'I constantly read about shootings in our newspapers, and I can write about who should be shot!'

Do you have scale nearby? Weight it! You'll see, what I'm talking about! I'm away from my home 35Y. Do you really want to play with me?

They'll go to another website lacking in wumaos. Not hard to find. This place has an obvious  wumao/CFTU(STFU) problem. This is not the only FT forum on the web.

Funny, other sites don't allow anonymity. hmmmm

I consider this Board as 'free', till 'pug' won't tell me to stop!

When I post something, it's no different as I would meet you outside, and we would have chat! My handle here is the only one I use on the whole Internet.

If I post something about USA, I don't have bad intentions toward US posters, or anybody else!

Things here aren't 'personal'!

'Zelda' is the name NSA planted 'wu mao' on US website. Get in the loop at 'Do you think Snowden's revelations are tip of the iceberg?'

Usually, if I have something against the person from USA, I tell that in straight talk, not over Internet with my cat pics as me. However, my cat was very 'clever'
