I got a whole list of things I want..... got mostly from taobao, priced and got a good idea.
I just hate taobao....getting around in it..... obviously I found things similar to what I want. but I would like to just call some store, taobao or jd..... doesn't matter....... but a specific, recommended store. I could spend a week looking at this stupid taobao thing.... ask for a pencil and you get a shoe, ask for a tool and you get a book..... stupid as hell.
Yes Miss A .. Sunday is a special day............. just so happens, this Monday is too...
Victoria (the Queen) day May 18 .. long weekend in Canada.. spring weather... party time.
I asked for a book and got a picture of a bra because the author's name was Shirley and so was the bra.
paints and brushes ..... chisels and saws, sanders, drills and grinders ... paints and brushes!!!! all home use size, not for going to work!! play time!!

In the Haizhou Square area of Guangzhou, you can find several hobby stores (everything from painting up to small-scale drones).
Buy a fishing pole BH. Your hobby will be to find out how fishing in China works.
Honestly, in the west, fishing is a science. Here it is considered a Martial art.
Westerners have different techniques for different waters, we fly fish, we float fish, we trot, we deep sea fish, we troll, we spin, we pole fish. And each of these methods I mention can be broken down. Fly fishing for example... dry fly, wet fly, lure, nymph, stockie chucking, spate river, man made lakes, chalk stream, hill loch, Russian river.... so on so on
Different equipment, and different skills for each.
But Chinese culture just has a single method..... the pole. They have a single tackle set up. A long necked waggler float, fished with a single weight, cast out with what is basically called a "whip" in European fishing terminology.
It follows that China has never had a world champ fisherman.
Same with Carpentry. Want a fret saw? A Tenon saw? A Rip saw?
No chance. All you will get is a hack saw whose teeth strip faster than a 20 buck heroin addicted hookers clothes come off.
BHGAL:
fyi ... I bought 2 "poles", 2 spinning reels, about 50 lures, when I came here to live by the sea .... there are some docks to fish off of....and a creek just across the street....... but I been warned not to eat my catches .... so I don't go...... what is the point? no reward for my endeavours.
that was when I first got here.... one pole is mounted on my living room wall ... the other is slowly losing line, while I cut it and prop up my balcony plants.
but the more I learn.... I think I could catch a fish here off the docks and eat it at home. there are some lakes, dedicated to fishing but I prefer wild stuff.
it is a process of living and learning..
I can rent a boat for 100rmb, go throw a line in a fish farm ...wonder what would happen then?... .. maybe 2-300rmb will get me to open sea, and a real fish, at least a fun experience..
all about live and learn.... and getting off my ass.
P.S. ..I did buy a hacksaw and a dremel tool both have since been redeployed, with an angry gesture, into the garbage dump........ again, live and learn. get what you pay for.I dont know about any hobby stores in my area. I have tried to gather a group for playing the new 5th edition of D&D but without any luck. Taobao does have some few RPG items but the selection is very very small. However, Amanzon.cn does bring books from the US so it is a good option.
