Q: Did people always eat with chopsticks in China?

...or did they ever use other utensils before?

I assume they made the transition from using hands to chop sticks, Europeans probably hands to a spoon type object. So from the beginning of the first person been born in this geographical land, i think its safe to say they didn't pop out clutching kuai zi.

Although the Chinese invented chopsticks, they were not the first eating utensil used. They were praised by Confucious as the best way to eat food, so they became popular.
