Q: DIY or Visa Agency?

I have always done my on visa whether for Business or family visit.
To Australia i did the perspective spouse visa the wife's visitors visa and the partner migration visa.
As most of you know I'm not exactly a literary Genius but
It's not that hard and you can ask as many relitive question as you need.
So what can a visa agency do that you can't?
To me it seems like a waste of good money.
Really curious to here your thoughts

Always DIY. Unless you're trying to do a dodgey, and need the guanxi, there's no good reason not to! (well, other than maybe time...)

They're a waste of money if you do your homework. I always do my wife's visa applications and always succeeded. Even first time when we only lived together and she didn't have a stable income. Got U.K. visa okay.

I haven't done it but once in so many years, applied for a visa I mean, but last time I did do in HK I used an agency.  My reasoning was that they, agency and PRC immi, have some sort of racket going on and that by everyone greasing everyone's palm I had a lot better chance of getting it.  And I was right, 10 year renewable L in two days, haha.   Yeah, I paid a premium, but compared to if something had gone wrong by me trying it myself I got off pretty cheap.  I mean if something went wrong I would likely be spending a fortune to stay in HK and repeat the process.

Also it was easy peasy,,, fill one form, photo, PP, and about 2k hkd and it was done.

Company does mine, but it would be a lot easier if my wife done it.

The best solution would be for hotwater to set up a visa agency. He is top man here for visas.

The best source for visa info is chinese forums. Its HK thread is excellent. Student orientated, but lots of good experience.

I use a visa service in the USA. Otherwise, it’s12 hours of driving, plus finding a parking place and then waiting two hours at the China Visa Facility. They’re only open from 9:30AM to 2:30PM

philbravery:

If I really wanted to I can apply on line to the Visa office in Brisbane. But I like the personal touch incase they have changed something which has happened in the past once a couple of years ago.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
