Q: Do Chinese have a higher tolerance to hardship?
I go crazy a few times everyday in China either because of someone's unbelievably selfish behavior in public, or because of public scandals and corruption, or because of some completely irrational decisions and implementations (be it city design, administrative needs, things we need to follow), or simply due to people being pushed, shoved, coughed on constantly whenever outside.
How do Chinese people do it? Is it because they've never known better, or do they have a higher tolerance to BS than we do?
I put this question in health because it relates to mental health. Mine.
I think they've had to deal with "hardships" for so long that they're just used to it. That's a normal day. Keep in mind that most of the world's population lives in conditions far worse than what you describe. Easy living in the West has made you weak!
Chinese who grow up with hardships are used to hardships.
Chinese who don't, aren't.
I've seen Chinese live in conditions I couldn't imagine. I've also seen guys have little tantrums because they had to wait till lunch to do Baijiu shots.
Compared to me? Yes.
We went to a hotel one night and the cheap SOBS didn't have the heat on. My response was to phone downstairs and tell the bastards we aren't paying to live in an igloo...etc. She was just like "Calm down, put on another blanket."
Now, this wasn't "oh the room is a little chilly" this was FUCKING COLD.
