Q: Do Chinese learn first aid or CPR?

Follow up to the other day (bye the way all is good )

but do many if any Chinese know first aid or CPR?

I have to up date my status in the next few weeks for work

however I am able to help if needed in a emergency

but how about if something happened in a street in China?

what are the chances that somebody could help?

hahahaha ! mr phil bravey....

chinese guys only know what happening in their mind, whats around them. they damn care about you and also about any other chinese. if you something happened on street better call police or 110 and also 120 for emergency. if you went for helping or doing CPR. if the guy got worst in the condition he will blame it on you. you have pay all his expensive along ranging to 3 or 4 or 5 digit numbers in money. chinese doctors , nurse or EMS unit, fire buddies know it . general public do not know how to clean the teeth or how to clean their butt correctly CPR is far away on list. they do not know the shorts in streets, blocks or shopping malls. you are talk of CPR.  do not help until you are not sure it time for helping or you think you shall in help. situation may reverse on you.

some true stories a son stabbed his mother inside the departuring terminal in airport, the lady is lying on the floor blooding like a hell, a foreigner got for it and helped her. no chinese came near her. they completely ignored it. a young in guangzhou was driven upon by cars 4 times , cracking her every bone in process. they did not bother it. they thought its a speed breaker. check the youtube for it.

Yeh, as a foreigner I reckon you'd get help if you collapsed in the street. You'd certainly get a crowd. Don't know how many people, if any, know CPR but my wife kicked me in the nuts when I was choking once and that worked. That's kind of like CPR, right?

Some of them do know. In the company I work for we send most employees to CPR courses.

Although I see where your question is going and I agree that mostly foreign companies will be more compelled to provide this kind of trainings.

for you information:NO

from elementary school to university, no one teach me(and my contemporary) how to deal with emergency situation. i only learned those lessons from television programs.

no first aid practice, no CPR, no fire drill, no earthquake drill.

these pathetic phenomenon result in chinese people don't know how  to do when terrible things happen.

there is example: last year , a women was stabbed by her son in Shang Hai airport hall, chinese all her don't know how to stop the blood leak, expect a white man use his clothe bind up the wound and save this woman life.

philbravery:

Do you think learning these skills will ever catch on?

We know that people don't want to risk a law suit

so what would it take to make it expectable?

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change student visa to labourer one is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
