Q: Do Chinese women not use tampons?

As a man I am obviously acutely aware of what is on the shelves with female products in the shops. Therefore it has not passed my attention that the amount of tampons available could lead to thinking they are illegal to produce/sell.

Why is this ?

I read somewhere that younger women/girls thought the use of tampons would cause them to "lose" their virginity.  And we all know how important the v-word is in China.

GuilinRaf:

YEs, my girlfriend confirmed this. Girls think that if they use tampons, they will no longer be virgins.

so that seems like a reasonable, yet wrong reason

I agree with cooter, and possibly because they think it's weird/dirty to stick something inside.

They also use little cotton compressed "buttons" maybe as round as a quarter and 7-9mm thick. I don't know what they call them but they work great in an emergency. I think they are cotton - not sure.

Scandinavian, why do you have the runs that bad?

Scandinavian:

it's not everyday, but you know the most efficient way to go from obese to skinny in no time is the "street food diet"

Wow, you guys ask the funniest questions! I agree with Cooter on this. I didn't need any when I was in China, but I noticed there weren't many for sale either. Also, according to TCM, a woman can't have chocolate at that time. That would suck.

Scandinavian:

Chocolate is just one of the things on a long list that women should not have during those joyful days

A woman I was taking out just used toilet paper like a panty liner type of napkin. She had never heard of tampons, didn't have a clue as to what I was talking about and screwed her nose up when I described them to her. She is 45 years old!

(Can't work out why us guys are even answering this question!)

mArtiAn:

That's not tampons though, that's panty liners. Of course she could always use the tissue paper and make roll-ups.

My wife stopped buying tampons 'cause I kept using them all. I do a great Don Corleone.

I've never met a single woman who uses them.

They only use those patch thingies.

Some apparently consider it unhealthy. (But again, in China, contraception is unhealthy while abortion is 100% healthy)

Actually a lots of Chinese women are using tampons! like ob brand because it's difficult to find applicator tampons in supermarket.

The ones who don't use them, it's usually because they don't know about it!

I met a lot of them who want to learn about these products and try, they also want something cleaner than pads!
