Q: Do a lot of expats want to explor Chinese Art and Philosophy?
Just back from Germany and want to do something related to art (visual arts). Where do art-lovers in Guangzhou hang out? Places specially for Chinese art or traditional stuff would be perfect.

"Redtory" is as close as it gets.
Though if I may address a word of warning: as with many things in mainland China, "Art" and "Philosophy" are yet two concepts that have been emptied of any real sense and often found coated if not filled in with sickening nationalism and/or consumerism.
To the extent that it's hard to distinguish genuine from fairy tales and/or commercial products anymore. A walk in said "Redtory" should convince you.
I was once interested in these, because there truly exist some interesting movements in both disciplines, but accessing them is tedious, and I do hate with a passion the most commonly accepted and accessible ones.

Art and philosophy are tied to social, cultural and technological advancement.
Social advancement would be a threat to the government, so it's discouraged.
Cultural advancement implies change, which would be a threat to the 5000 years of no change that people are proud of.
Technological advancement is not necessary. China copies everything from magical good-quality land. Collect them all, and Chinese will become magical good-quality people.
