Q: Do you avoid touching stuff with your bare skin when you go out?

My hands feel instantly dirty if I'm forced to grab a hand hold on the bus/subway in the morning. Maybe I should carry around a bottle of purell everywhere I go? Do you think this is preventing me from getting sick, or is it just weakening my immune system?

I find it impossible to avoid touching stuff, for me it is easier to be aware of not touching any orifice while out, until after I have washed hands.

I try to avoid using handrails, touching toilet doors (I try and use my feet if possible, (that gets some strange looks,)) etc, but tbh it's near impossible. I just wash my hands frequently and ALWAYS before touching my face / mouth.

I've noticed in KFCs and McDs in Nanning they appear to have given up on getting people to wash their hands before leaving the bathroom. The wash hand basins are now OUTSIDE the bathrooms.

yes, it's like that in a lot of places here too. that saves the restaurants or wherever it is, several hundred yuan in establishing a couple of extra sinks. for those of us with doorhandle fobia it's a welcomed setup, but leaving the mens room and feeling the handle is wet when there is no sink, is just that much worse.

Just like Hugh, I avoided bathroom doors like the plague (feet and elbows came in handy), but I also tried to avoid touching keyboards in internet cafe: I would at the very least use a tissue to wipe off the grease, the spilt drinks, and the sunflower seeds before using it.

I know this might make me sound horrible, but the contact of a beggar's skin against mine (when they grab my arm to ask for money) disgusts me deeply, as well as that of the sweaty construction worker's body when stuck in a full bus. Yuck.

It's not WHO there were that disgusted me, it was their filth that did, so don't feel offended.

Now that gives me an idea! Smear some very strong chilli sauce on the doorhandle INTO the gents! I'm willing to bet the filthy ba$%#@ds wash their hands then!  devil
