Q: Do you get Care Packages from home?

Just sent another shipment of Chocolate and Baby milk to the relo's

got me thinking about all the things I would miss if i was full time in China

and how I could get somebody to send them to me

Any of you guys hooked up with a supplier?

if so what do you get to make your life that much better in China?

No care packages. We tried a few times. Either came 6 months later or not at all.

When my mom comes she brings like two suitcases full of supplies. And when my bosses come they can bring emergency supplies in a pinch. Anything else I just go to HK.

We are past the times of care packages I guess. You can get everythibg everywhere now. Theres a Taobao shop that has a lady living in Canada and she buys everything and they sell it online here. Its all legit and decent prices so it made the supply trips less of a need.

I used to when I first came. But same as Mike, they would either come months later or never at all. I still get birthday cards. And again like Mike says, there's not really any point. For the cost of sending a package that might not even get here, I can just head to City Shop or hit up Taobao for a little fix of home.

I have been here a few years already, and still get Care packages.  My brother in law receives the merchandise a his home, and when they have enough to fill a flat rate 20 lbs Priority box he sends it over, and gets here within a week or two for $86.25.

I use my GF name written in Chinese, and also the address is in Chinese and her cell phone number.  Only thing in English s "CHINA".  Do not use regular stamps but meter tape.

I get many different things, from vitamins and medicines, to food and clothes, and things that you do not find in China at all.

Have you ever had to pay import duties on any items? Or do you make sure to keep the value of he package below a certain amount?

I only paid import duties on a Celestron telescope, the rest of items so far no taxes.  The taxes on the telescope were less than 100 yuan

A couple of times. My parents send emergency supplies such as candy. Perhaps a couple of times per year. Mums home baked cookies are usually a bit bashed up on arrival, but hey, who isn't a bit broken after a long flight.

The cost of getting, what is essentially useless stuff, from home is pretty high. Usually the postage is about 500RMB for a couple of KGs og goodies.

I get 3/4 packages a year.  Girl scout cookies/baked goods, special cooking spices, and random stupid crap.  I get them within 2 weeks of when they are sent.
