Wow, speak of the devil.  Just finished my daily (sometimes every other day) constitutional.  These are always scheduled at my work place (western toilets in every bathroom).  So far, in my 2.5+ years here, I've never had to use a squattie potty for anything other than taking a whiz.  As such, I have no idea where, if any, western toilets are located in my city.

Yes. My favorite is a five star hotel. Always clean. 

Pizza Hut can be used for a hit and run = cup of coffee, take a dump and then leave a relieved person. 

It also means the city has some dark spots. Areas where I do not know of decent toilet facilities.

Chinese Kung Fu (as explained to me by a Chinese friend at a bar (not KTV)) is the art of keeping that which must be kept in, in until such time as one is back at a place considered comfortable enough to let it out.

Even though I am good at usually only taking care of  "business" at home....yes...I do have a few emergency spots.

My favorite is beside our favorite street side restaurant.  A 5 star hotel hotel I used to live in last year and the toilets are lovely...open 24/7.

I would rather run there around the corner holding my butt cheeks during a serious case of laduzi then have to use the shithole (pun intended) squatter in the restaurant. 

Absolutely. In Shenyang there are western toilets at the following place: The 3rd floor bathroom of the GuanYa by the RT mart near HePing Square. Both NY Pizza locations. O'Reilly's Bar. And Uncle Sam's near the US Consulate.   

  I just use the local KFC or McDonald's if i'm caught short, and yes, I have a mental map of each branch that is so clear I can follow it drunk as a Lord and with my eyes shut. Unfortunately the last time I tried it it just happened KFC had relocated and I instead found myself being roughly ejected from a newly opened branch of 7/11 with my trousers around my ankles.

macdonalds and kfc in jinan do not have western toilets , they do have toilet paper and are usually clean though, luckily starbucks does the western seat and we have about 12 around town and their lodged in my mental map

If I was downtown on the walking streets, I'd go to a 5 star hotel. really nice washrooms. Usually I needed to use a toilet the most when I was waiting for the elevator in my building, almost never failed..

Yup I always try to make a mental note of my options. I try my best to use the bahtroom before leaving the house as well, sometimes this isn't an option though.

Like TEdDBayer said, I find hotels to be one of the best options. Anytime I'm in an area I don't know and nature calls, a hotel lobby is usually where I end up.
