A lot of foreigners are treated better than they would be in other countries. This is due to a perceived scarcity of what they offer in China.

A lot of other foreigners are treated a lot worse than they would be in other countries, despite having a lot to offer, due to biases or bigotry.

Basically, if you're white, preferably male, you're good. Anything else, you're probably going to have a rough time.

Regardless, no foreigner will ever be considered "Chinese", and I'm told that the Chinese have 5000 years of the greatest civilization in the world. Tough break for us, I guess.

Oh, you see, this is China. China is not a foreign country. So when a Chinese person does something, it is different from a foreigner. For example: if a Chinese person pee-pees in someone's Coke, it's a funny joke, but if an American does it, it's rude! I wish somebody told me that before I tried it at a KTV...

When I work for Chinese schools, I do not get the same professional couresy that I get in Australia or USA.

It is the same working for Chinese companies.

Working for non-Chinese companies, I get treated the same, or better, than I did in Australia.

In business, I think the issue is that employers don't treat the locals as WELL as they deserve to be treated.

MissA:

Absolutely correct.

People are people the world over, some bad some good.

Treat others as you would have them treat you not necessarily as they treat you and you will live a good life.

Agreed Traveler. And, I would add there is a general lack of respect, civility, manners and courtesy across the board shown to foreign expats here! That is JUST A FACT. MANY of us on this website and MANY other websites, etc. have stated this.

(I know you've seen this before).

As long as you don't make a lot of money and trouble does not find you, it's great!

Oh my, I could go on. Thanks for the hilarious question!
