Q: Do you think poor communication is cause of many problems here?

I noticed how many of my Chinese friends just don't talk about certain things with their families/friends which almost always leads to tensions/issues/misunderstandings etc. If they all just communicated clearly and spoke frankly, nobody would have to go tiptoeing behind others' backs and everyone would be much happier in the long run. Why hasn't this attitude caught on at all in China? And does it all boil down to 'face'?

I think poor communication is the cause of many problems. I do agree! However, as far as people here not communicating about things I find that hard to believe. It's understandable that maybe some of your friends don't want to talk about certain things. You know what they say: If it's not nice don't say it at all....

yes, you right. chinese  people are not  use to communicating with others like parents, friends or relatives. they thought that mean weakness and independence. that also the reason why there so few psychology doctors.

Poor communication is a major cause of problems everywhere - even in China.  Go figure!  Smile

I tend to think of it as a 'poor culture'. Most of the world get a glimpse of China from their TV sets but those that venture to the glorious motherland realise they are faced with an inferior and stagnate relic from the dawn of time.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change student visa to labourer one is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
