Drinking Green tea, like drinking a cup of warm water with half a lemon squeezed into it once a day, is supposed to help with losing excess water weight. When your body becomes dehydrated it goes into survival mode and ends up retaining more water than it needs, making you look bloated (e.g. abdomen, face), and impairing some of your bodily functions. The simplest way to avoid water retention and hence lose some excess weight I believe is to ensure you stay hydrated by drinking enough water every day and avoiding going to excess on other drinks that cause dehydration. I think excess salt as well can increase the risk of water retention.

Whether Green Tea directly helps lose excess fat aside from helping remove retained water I'm not sure. Do a bit of research online about Green tea, and water retention etc., I think there;s loads of stuff on there. Good luck

I don't know about green tea, but my wife and mother-in-law makes me green papaya tea, (made with the skin of green papaya and regular Chinese tea for flavour) and that does appear to get weight off me.
Although as has been said here, I think perhaps it is more water retention.
