I have been at a school for about a year and half now. Hate the idea that the administration has no sense of deadlines and hate to see all the deadbeat foreigners who can't do shit to save their lives graduating as Aerospace Engineers. I sometimes feel like going back but with all the investment i have made here thats not an option. To top it off i went to the school this morning for a meeting that was decided yesterday to find out I was sent an email at 10 at night and they hoped i would have read it and knew about the change of schedule.
This is a very common occurance, from what I've experienced and what I've heard others say, in that things are often planned, and changed, at the last minute. Some tell horriffic stories of missed events or showing up to events that were re-scheduled and never bothered to be told the new date. So far, I've been marginally kept in the loop. Even though it still drives me crazy, I've learned to adapt and figure that (most times) I'll find out the information just in the "nick of time."
One does learn to adapt, especially if you come from a culture where everything is planned out, re-checked, and then re-checked again before the actual date to make sure that everyone is aware and on the same page.
From my experience, this happens to everyone, both foreign and domestic. I've seen plans among locals change almost in mid-sentence, so if there is any consulation, know that it happens all the time, not just in regards to you.
