I see all of this a lot of times here so China does score high on this. However I recognise most of these from my childhood. Perfect score for China 7 out of 9 for me.

To ground OP's spot on article, below is a real life story from a local article on marital problems, translated by google translate.

University student Li Nan divorced her husband two years into their marriage,  the reason they divorce is neither extra-marital affairs on her husband's nor communication issues, but getting along with her husband --- very awkward.

Li Nan met her husband through a blind date.   He seemed to be a stable, reliable guy, so soon she married him.

Initially the two get along well, but very soon Li Nan concludes her husband is not her ideal companion.

Her husband at home is very dirty, often does not wash his face nor brush his teeth, personal items everywhere, every time you have to find things through rummaging cabinet ..... For these things, Li Nan lost count of the number of times she complained, but her husband never changes.

Shirt worn for a few days not washed, does not pay attention to proper presentation, the whole person does not have the slightest vitality. If restricted to home Li Nan may endure it for a longer period but he was the same outside.

Once, a close friend of her for many years came back to the home town.  Li Nan and her husband went out to dine with her.  He ate like a dog, tilted his legs, completely immersed in his own world.  For his own comfort he even took off his shoes.

In order to cover her embarrassment, Li Nan stared at her husband, but he pretended not to see it.

After dinner, he picked his teeth without covering his mouth.  Li Nan lost every bit of face she has.

Upon returning home, Li Nan and her husband had a big quarrel.  But her husband said: "I am like this,  if you cannot accept it get a divorce, I am chained enough anyway.

When Li Nan complained to me, I said, "You are not compatible externally".  She was amazed, and when I explained it, she said, "Although I heard this one for the first time, it was so true! In life, there are a lot of people who do not pay attention to their image, they often go by their own temper, even picking nostrils in public without the slightest mannet, all kinds of small details like that completely destroyed their "face", and along with it, their future and happiness.

Marriage in China is a perfect example . Have you ever heard of a situation where 2 sets of parents work together to try and trick the daughter into marrying the gay son? Why, double dowry.

Forced marriage culture in this country checks all the boxes

A:Hmmm - I'm sure I answered this (and some other posts...). What you don't seem to get is that an older population is bad for a country... the expenses in looking after the elderly (welfare, hospitals, etc) start taking up more of the tax cake - a cake that's getting smaller because there are less people contributing to it (ie, workers). From an earth impact perspective - good! But from most other perspectives - bad. -- Shining_brow
