for me it is just a bit of norhing better to do
i havent been able to contribute anything of any use for months
the questions get recycled or dragged up from the archives by ghe newest batch of paid trolls
and i got to say echina is not getting its moneys worth
they need to hire expats to moderate this place as Chinese just don't understand how we think and act
the only knowledge most of them have of us is some white monkey at the front of the black board talking to them in foreign talk .
Admin has turned echina into a online tabloid and nothing more
hoping we will self destruct and can publish the results to get more face for the local population.
in the beginning echina was a great source of information and help

I follow several forums, and I always find myself going back to the current events discussions.

Obviously I find them interesting, but I also like that you ( a couple aside) tend to get semi sensible and intelligent discussions about things that people are actually interested in because we all live here, or at least have some interest in China.

There is the occasional interesting topic here but let's face it, a lot of the threads are just stupid shit that descends into troll baiting and the sensible ones are maybe one in every three. When you have a handful of posters, who are probably on the payroll, putting nonsense threads up about why foreign guys won't bang them, people get sick of it and move on.

That's not to say I don't find the stupid shit amusing,I do, it's just not enough to make people stick around here and people don't seem to come here for advice - probably because most of the 'what should I do' threads come across as being loaded questions or trolling.

It has been suggested in the past but nothing came of it.... why not have a current events section? People can and do discuss, and shit talk about current events.

I have been out of China now for over three months and I do miss it. 

I like the wacky, zany, ridiculous stories that occur in China... China reminds me of some kind of Loony Tunes show where random crazy characters always come out of nowhere. 

But the pollution and lack of foreign policy will most likely make it impossible to ever move back there. I use this forum to see if anything is changing or if China is getting any better. It seems to be... but... I also hear about new ugly problems in the last few years. Like more foreigners getting aggressive with Chinese people and some Chinese targeting foreigners for violent crimes. 

Yes, BHGAL.  I go the odd other day now without looking at this thing.  But yesterday I fell off my bike (slipped on the ice in heavy traffic and am definitely lucky to be alive) and injured myself.  Have to rest up for awhile.  So this vessel had better spice up a bit or I might jump out the window.  Or I could read a book, I suppose.

But yes, you are right.

What I miss most about living here is having a decent yarn over a few grogs with interesting people.
