Q: Fireworks show for New Years?

Is there going to be a New Years fireworks show this year? If so, where to go for a nice view?

If not, any suggestions on where to go on New Years Eve?

Besides the Party Pier and nightclubs.

Debbie, forgive me but where will you be for New Years and to which New  Years are you referring?

If you are in Guangzhou, then I found this really distressing item on the Guangzhou Spring Festival 2013 site.  Apparently, the City Fathers have decided that this year (2013) there will be no fireworks display at Swan Lake Pond like before.  That is really distressing.

I wonder if they might rethink their position.  Truly sad news!  Anyway, since you read Chinese, here's the text in Chinese from the website:

【广州2013年起停办春节焰火晚会】为避免焰火燃放对广州城区大气环境的影响,倡导低碳、环保的生活方式,从2013年起,广州市将停办春节焰火晚会。与此同时,将在春节期间组织迎春花市、花卉展览、花灯展示、游园灯会、民俗表演等丰富多彩的文体活动,满足市民的精神文化需要。

debbie.luo:

I was actually referring to New Year's 1st Jan 2013, not the Spring Festival.

But if they're cancelling the Fireworks show for the Spring Festival, then am sure there's no way they're going to have a show for 1st Jan 2013.

Too bad. I guess just having dinner somewhere will have to do,
