Q: forced internships for Chinese students?

chinese students dont have to attend any classes in the final year, they are asked to do internships .
University students end up being waiters and factory worker in the name of internships. Shock
its fine you major in foreign trade and then go to a foreign trade firm for intership . but if he/she does internship in a factory or a restaurant , will you call that intership too?

This an excellent way to round out a student's education with a polytechnic hands on experience.

This is not uncommon in the USA either. It is called work experience.

she wants to prepare for the entrance exam for postgraduate and take classes in the cram school in aother city, thus dilemma emerges.

I had a Chinese friend who majored in Mechanical Automation and he had a "internship" his last semester at school at a huge Chinese steel factory. But the factory was afraid they would mess something up so they just sent him and his classmates to a big room and told them to study some books. They also told them they could just go outside and play basketball.

My friend was upset, he wanted to learn something at the factory, but all he did was play basketball. The funny thing is that at the end the his university required all the students to write a review of their internship and everyone just made it up.

Most internships in China are just simply a way for the school to not provide lessons to fourth year students and still collect tuition. The saddest part is not that the students live in such a state of fear, it is that they do not say anything about it
