Q: Fun School for 2 Year Old?

Hi.  I am thinking of moving to Nanjing next month, and I am wondering if there is a playschool for my son who will be 3 in September. I'm a single mom, American, and I'm looking for an all-day school where kids learn by having fun, with caring, creative, enthusiastic teachers (no need for foreign teachers - just good ones!) and maximum 4 kids/ teachers. This will help me decide whether or not to take a great new job and move. My son is now in a playschool in Guangzhou, but it's not an official school - you can only find out through the grapevine, so that's what I'm hoping to do here! Would appreciate any suggestions - thanks:) Kate

There are Montessori and Montessori-like schools around China. They have small class sizes (usually six kids for a good school) but other schools will have one teacher per 10 students plus an ayi.

My sons attend a Montessori-like school in the compound where I live. Lots of activities but also the administration is very Chinese (lots of last-minute changes, "activities" barely disguised as marketing ploys...

Good luck in your search!
